Moving from a typical Business Analyst role to that of a strategic business partner is never easy and especially so in a world defined by constant change and shifting goal posts. However these challenges are the very reason for the need for business analysts to move way beyond order-taker mode to earning a seat at the table with the business.
In this presentation Malini will share her experience of shifting thinking within large organisations and creating sustained value-based partnerships. She will focus on BA skills which have proved to be invaluable on this journey as well as additional skills which she acquired along the way.

Malini Jayaganesh is a strategic engagement and innovation professional and currently manages the Business Analysts team in the Strategy & Design Unit at the Department of Health and Human Services. With over 15 years’ experience in a variety of roles within government, higher education, and private sectors, she leverages a multi-disciplinary background to foster the BA capability so it can achieve its full potential as a strategic partner.
Malini is the recipient of a highly commended Service Excellence Award for successfully establishing the Business Relationship Management (BRM) function as a strategic enabler. Sheis an active member of the global BRM community and was recognised as having the “most impactful presentation” at BRMConnect Sydney 2016. She serves as both the Vice-Chair of the global Business Relationship Management Institute as well as the ambassador for the BRM community in Australia.
